Happy 1st Birthday, HGG!

One Gator. One Girl. One Year.

In a whirlwind year filled with big changes both personally and on the blog, one thing has remained the same - you.

That's why I want to thank you, my readers, for supporting me during my first year of blogging. Your comments, questions and words of encouragement serve as daily reminders as to why I love blogging and sharing recipes with the world.

I also want to give a shout-out to my favorite bloggers, without whom I would have never embarked on this journey. You introduced me to this wonderful community, and I thank you for providing inspiring content that I continue to learn from each and every day.

I can't wait to see what happens next, and I hope you join me for the ride by continuing to follow my culinary adventures on Hungry Gator Gal.

But first, here's a look at my favorite recipes and moments from HGG's first year.

P.S. Look for our regularly scheduled programming, an (Almost) Grownup Lunchbox post, later today.

I wrote my first post for Adventures in Collegiate Cooking, which was HGG's original name, using Word Press.

I shared my first meal and favorite T.G.I.F. recipe with you. I plan to make this sweet-but-healthy sandwich again to show you how good it actually tastes. My lack of photography skills pretty much ruined the first attempt.

Lent inspired me to dive into the world of vegetarian meals . . . and write a love letter to pita bread.

My obsession with yogurt started, and the breakfast of champions began earning its title as HGG's most popular recipe of 2012.

By the way, this meal still takes the prize as my favorite recipe of all time!

I discovered the sandwich pictured above on Peanut Butter Fingers and shared my version with you, which I dubbed the "Pretty Sweet" Egg and Cheese Sandwich. You can also find the meal on Serious Eats - Photograzing.

I cruised the Caribbean on the Carnival Paradise during a mother-daughter trip to Mexico. We enjoyed doing absolutely nothing together and devoured lots of yummy food.

I started the (Almost) Grownup Lunchbox series during my time as an intern with the Washington Center. Living, learning and working in D.C. was hands-down the best experience of my life thus far.

Hungry Gator Gal joined the What I Ate Wednesday (WIAW) gang by featuring all my Tuesday eats. These posts are still some of my all-time favorites to read from other bloggers and write for you guys.

I visited Georgetown Cupcake for the first time with my mom during Columbus Day weekend.

Can someone please ship a box of PB Fudge cupcakes to me?

I started Friday's Favorite Food Finds in order to share new food discoveries on a weekly basis.

HGG gave a whole new meaning to Thanksgiving leftovers with a little help from sweet potatoes.

My obsession with french toast hit an all-time high around Christmas.

I can't believe I still haven't shared my pumpkin pie french toast recipe with you! It's one of my favorite special breakfasts. Although pumpkin time is finished, I might just break the seasonal rules.

Hungry Gator Gal made its big move from Word Press to its new home on Blogger.

January 10, 2013

Unusually warm winter weather initiated smoothie-making madness.

The climate also inspired me to recreate one of my favorite Panera Bread smoothies.

Hungry Gator Gal celebrates its first year with a warm, moist loaf of spirit-lifting banana bread via The Merry Gourmet.

More details to come!
